아시아에서 가장 큰 수조를 가지고 있다는 한 아쿠아리움. 그 속에 정형 행동을 보이는 얼룩매가오리가 있다. 다큐멘터리에 본 바다 속의 얼룩매가오리는 자유롭다. 전투기처럼 빠르게 수영하기도 하며, 삼삼오오 모여서 직선 유영을 하기도 한다. 정형행동을 보이는 수조 속의 매가오리와는 완전히 다른 모습이다. 책 <아쿠아리움>은 자유를 빼앗긴 매가오리의 모습을 통해 아쿠아리움 이면에 숨은 잔인성을 보여준다.
In one aquarium which has the largest tank in Asia, there are Spotted Eagle Rays that show stereotyped behavior. In a documentary video, the Spotted Eagle Ray is free in the sea. They swim as fast as a jet, or gather in groups to swim in a straight line. It looks completely different from the same breed in the tank that shows stereotypical behavior.
